1. About These Terms

These Terms and Conditions apply to the purchase and use of Aussie Readers online literacy courses, including the Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 courses.

By purchasing an Aussie Readers course, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

Please read these terms carefully before completing your purchase. They explain the course access provided, permitted use of course materials, payment arrangements and other important information.

Aussie Readers reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The terms applicable to your purchase will be those presented and agreed to at the time of purchase, subject to applicable law.

2. About Aussie Readers Courses

Aussie Readers provides online literacy courses designed to support children's reading, spelling, writing and comprehension development.

Our courses are primarily designed to support:

  • Homeschooling families.

  • Children requiring additional literacy practice.

  • Catch-up learning and tutoring outside school.

  • Families seeking structured literacy instruction at home.

The courses include explicit instruction, video lessons, printable workbook activities and access to relevant digital decodable reading resources, depending on the course purchased.

Aussie Readers courses are educational resources and are not intended to replace professional assessment, specialist educational advice or individualised support where such services are required.

Parents, carers, tutors and educators are responsible for determining whether a course is suitable for the child or children using it.

3. Course Purchases and Access

3.1 One-Off Course Purchase

Aussie Readers courses are purchased through a one-off payment, unless otherwise specified at the time of purchase.

A one-off purchase provides access to the relevant course for a period of 12 months.

The purchase does not create an ongoing subscription or automatically renew.

3.2 Course Access Period

Course access is provided for 12 months from the date access is activated, unless otherwise stated in writing.

At the end of the 12-month access period:

  • Access to the course will expire.

  • Continued access will require a new purchase.

  • Access will not automatically renew.

Customers who wish to continue using the course may repurchase access, subject to the applicable pricing and purchasing arrangements at that time.

3.3 Course Access Is Specific to the Purchase

Access is granted for the course and purchaser identified at the time of purchase.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, a course purchase provides access for the individual purchaser or designated user and does not automatically grant access to additional users, staff members, schools or organisations.

Where a purchase is made by a school, organisation or other educational provider, the permitted users and scope of access will be determined by the agreed purchasing arrangements.

4. Course Access and Account Security

Customers are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information when purchasing a course.

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of their login details.

  • Taking reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised access to their account.

  • Notifying Aussie Readers if they become aware of unauthorised account access.

Course access details must not be shared, transferred, sold or provided to another person without written permission from Aussie Readers.

Aussie Readers may take reasonable steps to protect the security of its courses and accounts where unauthorised access or misuse is suspected.

Any action taken under this clause will remain subject to applicable consumer rights and other legal obligations.

5. Permitted Use of Course Materials

Aussie Readers courses and associated resources are provided for educational use within the scope of the purchase.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, customers may:

  • Access the purchased course during the applicable access period.

  • Use the course for the educational benefit of the child or children covered by their purchase.

  • Complete workbook activities (provided as a PDF) and other learning activities provided as part of the course. Some workbooks are available as physical workbooks and can be purchased in the online store.

  • Use the accompanying digital decodable reading resources for the intended educational purpose. Paperback copies are available for an additional cost in the online store.

The permitted use of course materials depends on the type of purchase and any specific licence agreed with Aussie Readers.

5.1 Prohibited Use

Unless written permission is provided by Aussie Readers, customers must not:

  • Share course login details with unauthorised users.

  • Transfer course access to another person, family or organisation.

  • Copy, reproduce or distribute substantial portions of the course content.

  • Upload course videos, workbooks or other resources to public websites or shared platforms.

  • Sell, resell, licence or commercially distribute Aussie Readers course materials.

  • Make course materials available to other schools, organisations or staff members outside the agreed scope of access.

  • Modify, reproduce or republish course content for commercial distribution.

These restrictions do not override any rights provided under applicable law.

6. School, Tutoring and Organisational Purchases

Aussie Readers courses may be purchased by schools, tutors, organisations or other educational providers.

However, a standard individual course purchase does not automatically provide an institution-wide or multi-user licence.

Where a school or organisation purchases access, the permitted scope of use should be confirmed at the time of purchase.

This may include:

  • The specific course or courses purchased.

  • The number of authorised users.

  • The school, organisation or location covered by the purchase.

  • The access period.

  • Any additional permissions agreed in writing.

A school or organisation must not assume that purchasing one course access provides permission to share that access with other staff members, schools or departments.

Separate arrangements may be available where broader access is required. Please contact Aussie Readers to discuss your requirements.

7. Intellectual Property and Copyright

All content provided through Aussie Readers courses remains the intellectual property of Aussie Readers or its relevant content licensors, unless otherwise stated.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Video lessons.

  • Written lessons and teaching materials.

  • Workbooks.

  • Decodable reading resources.

  • Illustrations and graphics.

  • Course structure and instructional content.

  • Other materials provided through the Aussie Readers platform.

Purchasing a course grants the customer limited permission to use the course materials for the agreed educational purpose. It does not transfer ownership of the intellectual property to the customer.

Customers must not reproduce, distribute or commercially exploit Aussie Readers content beyond the permissions provided under these Terms and Conditions or a separate written agreement.

Copyright protection and permitted uses are also subject to the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) and other applicable law.

8. Pricing and Payment

Course prices are displayed at the time of purchase and are subject to change.

The applicable price is the price presented to the customer at the time the purchase is completed, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

At present, Aussie Readers is not registered for GST.

Where a customer purchases a course through a school, organisation or other institution, payment and invoicing arrangements may be governed by a separate written agreement or purchase order.

9. Refunds and Cancellations

Aussie Readers provides a free trial at www.aussiereaders.com/trial, allowing prospective customers to explore the course and familiarise themselves with the content and learning resources before making a purchase.

We encourage customers to take advantage of the free trial and review the course information carefully to ensure the course is suitable for their needs before purchasing.

9.1 Change-of-Mind Refunds

Aussie Readers courses provide immediate access to all course content upon sign-up, including video lessons, workbooks and applicable reading resources.

Due to the immediate provision of digital course content, refunds will not be issued for change-of-mind purchases, including circumstances where a customer decides not to use the course, changes their educational approach or no longer requires access.

Customers are encouraged to use the free trial and contact Aussie Readers with any questions before completing their purchase.

9.2 Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies available to customers under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.

Where a course or service does not meet applicable consumer guarantees, customers may be entitled to a remedy, which may include a repair, replacement or refund, depending on the circumstances and requirements of the law.

If you experience a problem with your course or access, please contact Aussie Readers so we can assess the issue and discuss an appropriate resolution.

10. Technical Requirements and Access

Customers are responsible for ensuring they have:

  • A suitable device.

  • A reliable internet connection.

  • Compatible software and browser access.

  • Any other technical requirements communicated by Aussie Readers.

Aussie Readers will take reasonable steps to maintain access to its courses.

However, temporary interruptions may occur due to:

  • Website maintenance.

  • Technical issues.

  • Third-party hosting or platform problems (Squarespace).

  • Circumstances beyond Aussie Readers' reasonable control.

Where reasonably practicable, Aussie Readers will seek to address technical problems affecting course access.

11. Course Content and Updates

Aussie Readers may update course content, teaching materials or platform features from time to time.

Updates may be made to:

  • Improve lesson quality.

  • Correct errors.

  • Improve accessibility or usability.

  • Maintain or improve the course platform.

  • Update supporting resources.

Aussie Readers will endeavour to ensure that material changes do not unfairly disadvantage customers.

If a proposed change would materially affect a customer's purchased access or rights, the applicable options should be assessed in accordance with the agreement and Australian Consumer Law.

12. Privacy and Personal Information

Aussie Readers collects personal information from customers when they visit our website, make a purchase, register for a course or contact us.

This information may include names, email addresses, account details and purchase information required to process orders, provide course access and communicate with customers.

Aussie Readers uses third-party service providers, including Squarespace and Stripe, to host and administer our website, process customer information and support the delivery of our services. These providers may process personal information on our behalf in accordance with their applicable privacy policies and contractual arrangements.

Aussie Readers will handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access.

13. Limitation of Liability

Aussie Readers provides educational resources designed to support children's literacy development. However, we do not guarantee particular educational outcomes, as children's progress may vary depending on individual circumstances, learning needs and the way the resources are used.

Aussie Readers will take reasonable steps to provide access to its courses and resources as described.

To the extent permitted by law, Aussie Readers is not responsible for losses arising from circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies available under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.

14. Termination or Suspension of Access

Aussie Readers may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary to address:

  • Unauthorised use.

  • Serious misuse of course materials.

  • Security risks.

  • Other material breaches of the applicable terms.

Where appropriate, Aussie Readers will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue.

Any suspension or termination will be subject to applicable legal rights and obligations.

Where access is suspended or terminated, the customer's rights to any applicable remedy will not be excluded by these Terms and Conditions.
